Update from VMware Explore 2022

To start with, VMware Explore was held in San Francisco at the Moscone center. Not sure this was a great decision. They may have felt if they stay local, more companies will be interested in sponsoring, and exhibiting. For everyone not from the bay area, it was very expensive. Hotels were at a premium for sure. San Francisco is also dealing with a bit of a crime crisis at the moment, which has been getting a lot of news coverage.

The Evolution of Druva With CFO Mahesh Patel

In 2008, Veritas employees Jaspreet Singh and Milind Borate got together to create the data protection company Druva. Fun Fact: In Sanskrit, "Druva" translates to "North Star".

For years they built the business around endpoint data protection, but the product evolved over into a more enterprise focused cloud data management company. Last year they completed a series E for $130M with a valuation north of a billion dollars.

In 2014, John Stepped into the role of Chairman of the Board of Microsoft Corporation following Bill Gates’ departure. John has been an active investor and in 2018 he became a partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners and has put together a portfolio of truly impressive companies. One of those companies is the cyber security company Confluera, which we are really excited to talk to him about today.
