The Soul of a Startup with Sophie Theen

The core of any successful company is its culture. Building a great culture is a challenging task, and many companies never manage to put all of the intricate pieces together, but when they do, the magic happens. Today, we are talking with an expert on what makes culture go, so stay tuned.

Hey everybody, this is Chris Brandt here with Sandesh Patel, welcome to another FUTR podcast.

I recently read The Soul of Startups: The Untold Stories of How Founders Affect Culture by Sophie Theen. In the book, Sophie chronicles her experience as an HR professional in the world of tech startups. She has a front row seat to the good, the bad, and the downright ugly of the industry. Throughout it all, she shares what she has learned from the pains and joys she found in the land of tech startups.

The book focuses a lot on the character that founders bring to a company, but it is a bigger story than just that. Building a great culture takes grit, empathy, and vision and buy in from the people that make the company go.

Today we are fortunate to have with us Sophie Theen, author of The Soul of Startups to tell us what she has leaned.

Welcome Sophie
