Metaverse - Is it the end, or the beginning

Meta Verse

Not meta in the sense of self reference, and not a verse in the sense of epic, lyrical poetry.

Rather Meta in the sense of greater or transcendent and verse as in universe. However, since the metaverse exists within the known universe it logically can not be greater than that which contains it.

Which is an apt description because, in the end, it is merely the illusion of infinite space, time and possibility.

And, while it is a transcendent expanse of virtual existence, it is perhaps more a symbol of our exhaustion with the existing world and universe in which we toil day after day with small minds and limited possibilities.

This virtual existence offer the endless promise of delightful illusion, bridging gaps that time and space lays before us, giving us instantaneous connection to the totality of human existence.

We sit at the edge of its existence, the primordial ooze from which it will arise, and one has to ask oneself, what will we make of it. Will we create a skeuomorphic simulacrum of the failed utopias of tangible existence, or will we truly transcend.

Will the old ways of corporate exploitation, pettiness and greed drive the evolution of this brave new world, or will our better angels be revealed bringing into existence a new eden as we fall, powerless toward the singularity.

Will this be our final step towards our own transcendence, or a will we fall into the gaping maw of oblivion.

The journey starts now, and it is up to us to choose the destination.
